Ashley Hotel Jakarta
I knew when I booked the Ashley Hotel through Booking.com that I was going to have a basic room in an older building (1800s) in Cork. I have stayed in my share of basic rooms in older buildings and it really becomes a roll of the dice with what you get. I was not sure what to expect only from the photos online but when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is very close to the main city strip of Cork, it is on the other side of the bridge. The location was nice, although it is on a main street the hotel is quiet and very secured. It is walking distance to both the train and coach station if you are traveling from either. I walked from the train station in about 10 minutes, taking just one street. The hotel is quite nice really for the price and location. The lobby and bar is traditional décor and is quite clean. The staff are polite and very helpful making sure to give you a map and suggestions. There is also a secured luggage storage, which I used when I checked in early and when I checked out. As for my room, it was a good size and comfortable. I was very impressed with the size of my bathroom though. It was quite large with a big window for natural lighting. The bathroom had a full size tub with shower which is a luxury in Europe with these types of accomodations. The breakfasts were pretty great though and start at 7AM. There are different breakfasts from continental, vegetarian and full Irish. Both Veg and Irish are made to order while the continental is already set out. It really is nice having a hot breakfast before you start out your day! Yes, so for the price, the location, breakfast and the staff- this makes a very nice stay in Cork.
